At the end of the day going to a boutique fitness class is my ultimate feel-good medicine.
It is no accident that putting in place a consistent group fitness class community opened up the door for me to walk away from the career that no longer work for me. I found through the group fitness circuit – new friends, new ways to showcase how strong I really am and my willingness to push through beyond comfort.
I am right now dealing with a sprained ankle injury. Not fun at all! I have to say this has not stopped me from going to back to my regular routine (as long as I keep the impact low and stay cautious of my ankle).
For Q1 2014 I (re)discovered the following group fitness classes that quickly have become my go to obsessions!
Swerve Fitness – 30 W18th Street, New York, NY 10011
Cost: $30 per class/ Packages available
Friendly staff, awesome instructors and competitive spinning? Oh and they share with you your friendly stats after class. AMAZING
Falling in love with Spinning was a lovely surprised. It started as a Friday night friend meet up that led to more classes, eventually owning that I do love spinning. Thank you @Swerve for making it possible.
One of the things that I love about Sweve is that they offer “Swerve School” which is the perfect How To class from learning how to setup your bike properly, what is the right form for spinning, position 1, 2, 3.
Fave Instructors: Dyan Tsuimis– who will kick your booty!
Workout + Wine sign me up for it!
Friday night at Uplift you can skip the happy hour for 55 minutes of strength work that includes a glass of wine and new friends. Uplift is another friendly, inviting community. The instructors will push you beyond your comfort zone but you will see results.
Uplift Strength is becoming my go-to friend date in NYC.
Work-it Out Blended Rides 5 Marine View Plaza Hoboken NJ 07030 River Street Location (2 blocks from the Path)
Cost: $20 per class / Packages available/ ClassPass Studio
I decided to give Work-it-Out Blended Ride a try and I was not disappointment. The blended ride format is simple 25 minutes of spinning + 25 minutes of group fitness class (think Zumba, barre, HITT, strength training).
It is an awesome class to take as you get the best of both worlds and a killer workout.
Not in NYC/Hoboken? No worries you can take advantage of my first fitness love at home with Shrink Sessions (affiliate link)
