I hope you enjoy this special treat! xo LY
Simply put, I empower women to be the change agent in their lives. I hold several certifications in professional coaching including specializations in life, wellness, and a master coaching certification. Unlike most coaches, my style is a bit unconventional 😉 I use an out-of-the-box approach that evokes a sense of luxury, indulgence, and passion: all of the things needed to truly tap into the parts of us that are capable of creating a “Champagne Life”. And a “Champagne Life” is exactly what I feel all women deserve.
This week, I’ll meet one of my clients at the Bryant Park Grille in NYC for a glass of champagne and an hour-long power session as she navigates her way out of a job in corporate finance and into a new career. Places like this are my virtual office, and although we sip on bubbles throughout our session, our hour-long meetings are extremely impactful. I find that this approach brings a unique and exciting angle to life coaching; an industry that often gets a bad rap and has a stigma associated with it. By elevating the experience, women feel comfortable to express themselves in a setting that feels social and elegant. If I’m working with international or remote clients, we enjoy our bubbly as we brainstorm and strategize over Skype.
Aside from my coaching, I’ve published 2 Amazon best selling books that can be found here and my blog, TheChampagneDiet.com has been featured in Glamour, Shape, Marie Claire UK, Daily Mail UK, Cosmopolitan South Africa, and many other sites. My writing has been featured in The Huffington Post, Marie Claire UK, MTV News, and others.
What inspired you to decide to teach women about The Champagne Diet?
I was inspired to create The Champagne Diet® fter going through my own personal experience. About six years ago, I found myself overweight, unhappy, and lacking passion in a major way. I was working long hours in a miserable job and was about to try another fad diet in an attempt to feel…something. A coworker-turned-good friend overheard me and begged me to stop dieting and start eating healthy, whole foods. The concept of eating healthy had never really occurred to me; I was always interested in losing the most amount of weight in the shortest time. After she spoke to me about the benefits of focusing on health over weight-loss and eating whole, nutritious foods, I was sold. But I had one burning question: could I still drink? Mama loves her cocktails. And the answer was a big fat, “Yes! Just drink champagne!” Her rationale was that a glass of champagne only packs about 100 calories per flute (much less than other drinks like sugary cocktails or wine). As a bonus, who doesn’t feel sexy drinking champagne? I took her advice and started eating healthy, enjoying champagne (in moderation), and making some major changes in my personal life. And just like that, “The Champagne Diet” was born.
I began my blog in 2008 as a way to document my experience and soon women from around the world began connecting with me. My story resonated with them and by 2013 the blog had inspired two books and a full-fledged life coaching practice. There’s nothing I love more than inspiring women to stop settling for less than what they desire and deserve and truly create THEIR “Champagne Life.”
What advice would you give to women who crave living a richer/full life?
Take ownership for your life and your choices. Everything is a choice. Hate your job? You choose to get up and show up there every day. Miserable in your relationship? You’re choosing that partner every single day. And just as easily as you do all the things you hate, you can undo them. Only until you own every single aspect of your life can you start making changes where you need to. It’s completely on you to design a life that feels magical.
Secondly, believe that everything is possible. Shift the focus from what limits you to what empowers you. As soon as you start working from that place, it all changes.
What are your go to self-care tools and experiences that restores you to your best self?
First of all: never underestimate the power of a good workout. If I’m feeling drained, I hit the gym and sweat it out. It’s a surefire trick for feeling better almost immediately.
I also crave alone time. I work a full-time job at MTV Networks as a Digital Advertising Director, I’m married, and I run my blog and coaching practice. I’m pulled in a million different directions and if I don’t take time for myself I completely unravel. Something as simple as getting dressed up and taking myself to a swanky hotel bar to enjoy a glass of champagne alone while reading a book or checking emails makes me feel alive again. I also love a great massage or a shopping spree. I don’t even have to spend a lot, but treating myself to a new top or pair of shoes makes me feel great. I mean, who doesn’t love retail therapy?
What inspires you to continue living a life you love each day?
Other people who are living their dreams inspires me beyond belief. Something about seeing someone live their purpose and radiant that positive, soulful energy is like inspiration crack for me.
