Happy Monday! Today is a fun special treat as I have my friend Daniella the Brooklyn Dating Guru in the hotspot. I met Daniella a couple of years ago at a yoga class she hosted for the single girl. Her practice is active but full of love. I absolutely love her message and what she is offering.
If you are ready to make romance your 2014 intention, then I encourage you to check out her FREE juicy training that will get you ready to call in the one. xo
Hi! I’m Daniella, The Brooklyn Dating Guru. I teach women how to attract their love using YOGA in a real-life, practical way. But my gosh, I wasn’t always such a “guru.” I actually never had luck dating in high school, college, or even after college. When I graduated and moved back home to Brooklyn, I did my best to avoid dating by going to yoga. Then something crazy happened—when I left yoga class men looked at me, hit on me, and actually asked me out!
Don’t get me wrong—yoga isn’t all about the post-class ego-boost. But it certainly helps! I adore yoga so much that I eventually became a yoga teacher. Over the past few years, I’ve been teaching many of my students how to take their yoga off the mat and into their love lives so they can attract their unique, quirky, perfect-for-them love!
What inspired you to create the Brooklyn Dating Guru (BDG) School?
You see, as I was doling out advice to help my students with their relationships and dating, my boyfriend BROKE UP with me. And quickly after, I found myself at 35 years old, stacking my worldly possessions in boxes in our living room, and sleeping in my parents’ living room pull-out couch. This was definitely not where I imagined I’d be.
To make myself feel better, I experimented with different yoga poses at home. Eventually, I DID feel better, more hopeful, more confident, and yes, more ready for love. But it was only through that process of taking my practice off the mat and into my love life that allowed me to heal and be ready to attract love, again.
In BDG School, I guide you through these yogic moves, so you can attract your unique love. It doesn’t have to be mysterious, and you can take control of your love life now!
What advice would you give to women who crave living a richer/full life?
To live a richer, love-filled life, you’ve got to love yourself first. I know, I know, you’ve heard it before. And it’s true. But does anyone ever tell you exactly how?
Self-love isn’t only a feeling, but a doing. It’s a practice like anything else—brushing your teeth, washing your hair, going to yoga J. When you DO self-love, regularly and consistently, you begin to attract all the things your sweet heart desires!
What are your go to self-care tools and experiences that restores you to your best self?
I’m a stickler for Bed Yoga, the daily practice I’ve created. The rest of the day can get away from me in an anxiety-ridden, stressed-out, self-doubting mess. But with Bed Yoga, I know I’ll always start my day on my own terms, with self-love.
Bed Yoga is so simple! Here’s how to do it:
- When the alarm goes off, don’t get out of bed! (Don’t jump up and run to the coffee maker. I’m guilty of wanting to do this every ding-dong day.)
- Instead, set your alarm for another 3 minutes.
- Rub your hands together for a count of 10 to get some good heat going.
- Bring one hand to your heart and one hand to your belly. Hold for as many breaths as feels good.
- Sweep your palms up and down your body, from your head, chest, belly, and legs, soothing and clearing yourself.
- Say the sound “shoo” as you sweep your palms up and down your body, as if you’re “shooing” away all the fear, self-doubt, or any other negative feeling that you don’t need anymore!
- Get out of bed and start your day clear and clean, and on your own terms—with self-love!
What inspires you to continue living a life you love each day?
Strangely, it’s what I HATE. I hate hearing from women who are beautiful, confident and successful in most parts of their lives, but become insecure little girls when it comes to love and relationships. I hate that these same women are settling for relationships that make them feel small, unworthy, or self-doubtful. These women deserve SO MUCH MORE.
My mission is to share my love with the world, and to inspire and instruct all women to share their huge, amazing love with the world too—without fear of getting hurt or rejected. It’s a big goal, I know. But I believe it’s possible for all women who rock their love lives, just like they rock every other part of their lives!
