Happy Monday! Today’s fun installment of Thrive Lady Interview we have Sarah Von Bargen who is the brains behind the uber-popular Yes and Yes (blog) and a thriving consulting practice that is all about making you awesome on the Internet.
I love Sarah’s blogs as they are inspiring, informative and full of useful actionable tips that I can apply into my life. I would definitely bookmark both of her blogs into your reading list. xo Laura
Tell us a little bit about yourself
I’m a blogger, writer, and internet awesome-i-fier living (most of the time) in St. Paul, Minnesota. I’ve been getting paid to write for 14 years, blogging for 5, and employing myself for 3.
I blog (almost) daily at Yes and Yes about life, travel, career, style, trying new things, and cat outfits. I also help entrepreneurs and small businesses make a name for themselves on the internet with clever social media plans, list-amplifying ebooks, and doable editorial calendars.
What inspired you to start Yes and Yes?
There was a very specific type of blog that I was looking for – something that was smart and funny and addressed all the aspects of modern life. Politics + how to throw parties, advice about how to be charming + feminism. I couldn’t find a blog like that so I decided to start it myself!
What advice would you give to women who crave living a richer/full life?
Try new things. Even tinnnny new things! Try a different coffee shop, a new recipe, a different class at the gym, a new show on Hulu. It gets you out of your comfort zone, helps you meet new people, grow as a human, and discover new opportunities – both personally and professionally.
Can you share your go to Morning Ritual (Routine)…
If I’m on top of my game, I get up and run/walk/trudge a set of stairs near my apartment for about half an hour. I come home, drink a protein shake, shower and get dressed. I review the to-do list that I started yesterday and then dig in. This happens about 50% of the time. The other 50% of the time, I get up, eat breakfast in front of my computer and stay in my yoga pants till 10.
What inspires you to continue living a life you love each day?
The alternative is unacceptable.
