Over the past 8 months, I have spent my time reading books. In 2016, I read a total of 276 books. So far this year, I have read 79 books.
It all started after recording this episode of Say Yes on Adult Reading. April shared with me the wonderful world of Book tube (youtube videos all about books). After getting recommendations on books, I would quickly check them out of the library to start reading.
I now can read super fast. I average reading a book a day sometimes I go crazy and read two books per day.
I read mainly fiction. I read young adult, romance, new adult contemporary. I still read some fantasy but not a lot.
I mainly read e-books on my kindle. I don’t own physical copies of books as I got rid of my books last year in an effort of tidying it up. I do use NYPL for both ebooks and physical books.
What does it mean for the blog?
As reading has become an important piece in my life. I want to extend that to this space.
I will start blogging about the books that I am reading. I will do a monthly e-book haul of books that I have purchased through Amazon. I will also do a weekly book review of a book that inspired me or gave me all of the feels for the week. I will work with publishers and authors in helping them promote their books.
I will continue posting a lifestyle, stepping outside my comfort zone activity on Wednesday. In terms of the podcast, I will be honest I am not sure if I want to continue posting episodes. Yes I have them all recorded but there is post-production time that I am not sure if I want to invest in it, while I could be reading amazing books.
In summary, Joyful Shimmy will be a mix of book blogging and lifestyle blogging. It’s a representation on who I am as an individual.
