Crazy work week as it is Homecoming at Pace U. Last night we had the concert that I produced. It was a sold out event and a great success for my student leaders who planned it. I have to admit this concert challenged me in the areas of self-care and being in the fight or flight mode. Between being pulled in multiple directions and phone calls, I had practiced setting boundaries (messily) and managing to solve plenty of issues on the spot. I am grateful that this concert is over and that I can focus onto other projects that inspire me.
Last weekend, I had a few fun playdates that remind me why I love living and playing in NYC.
From my job, we had some extra tickets to see the show. I grabbed a couple and invited my friend Annie to come and see the show. We both needed a break from our Student Affairs world and this show did not disappointed. The storyline is based on the movie “Priscilla Queen of the Desert” where a few drag queens travel onto Alice Springs, Australia. In the process, they get to wear fabulous outfits, sing and dance to the tune of Donna Summer, Diana Ross, and Madonna. I loved the glitter, the outfits, the dance songs. This was a great fun show to watch. It was theatrical and engaging. Perfect playdate show!
On Saturday, I met up with my Cupcake Mentor (yup I have one- she is awesome and I am so happy that she is back to NYC after a few years hiatus in a place called NJ) to check out this new cupcake spot that opened up in the West Village. Molly’s Cupcakes is originally from Chicago and they were a contestant at Cupcake Wars. Here are a few of the highlights from Molly’s Cupcake:
1. The cupcake– its the perfect size not too big nor too small. It was fresh ingredients. The cupcake had a surprise filling based on the flavor. Mine had nutella as I had the Peanut Butter Cupcake with Nutella Frosting. My Cupcake Mentor’s had cake batter as hers was “Cake Batter cupcake- funfetti, cake batter and frosting.”
2. Sprinkle Station. What else can I say? I get to practice my arts and craft skills by decorating my cupcake! Fun!
4. Location. There is something about being in the West Village especially on a beautiful fall day. The weather was perfect and Bleecker street is such a fun street to walk by and enjoy the beauty.
Overall it was a fun playdate. I am now looking forward to plan a few more playdates in the next few weeks because I have been working too hard! Have a great weekend everyone 🙂
