Perhaps you have a clear vision where you want 2014 to look, feel and be?
Yet overwhelm sinks in.
If you are like me you start to procrastinate, create new crisis to manage, find new distractions, jump on Facebook newsfeed downward spiral. Or you get caught up in the “shiny” object syndrome? Before you know it, nothing has been accomplish. You start to feel like sh*t.
What to do? What to do?
Instead of heading in the downward spiral, I shift my focus on WHAT CAN I DO TODAY? Yes this means focusing on moving my feet, taking bite size actions that will boost my motivation to tackle the big stuff.
1. Action-Brainstorming! I want you to pull apart one goal/intention/ resolution and dedicate 5 to 10 minutes brainstorming and writing the following: What actions would support my goal? Think big, small, long term, short-term. All of it!
Here is my sample for the area of “Body/Health” my big intention is around feeling good from the inside out/outside in.
This is an abbreviated list. As you can see some of the actions are as simple to schedule food shopping into my weekly schedule. Using my Pinterest time as productive time to brainstorm new meal ideas. Tracking 10,000 steps per day for me it means plugging in my Nike+ and making sure I walk at least 30 to 45 minutes during the day.
2. Sorting each action into the following categories: Today, This Week, This Month, Three Months. I want you to break the “big” actions apart ~ those month-long or 3 months habit into bite size pieces such as scheduling time to make the phone call or sending that email. Simple!
3. Each day focus on taking 1 to 2 actions per day that will support your goal.
4. Go ahead and celebrate each accomplishment!
You will be surprised how just moving your feet/getting the small stuff done will increase the momentum toclimb that big mountain.
