I have to admit I don’t know how to run. Growing up athleticism wasn’t my forte. The longest I have run is 100 meters and that was when I was 10 years old during my school field day.
A few weeks back, I set an action to run 2 miles at 5mph in the treadmill. What I learned was that was an unrealistic goal for me. This meant looking back at my goal and set out a realistic action.
As it was suggested by my coach, maybe I should ask for help. I started out emailing to her referral with questions how did you get started and asking for tips. I got great feedback as to how I can make my actions more realistic. This meant starting to walk and then run a mile and then walk again.
As I started to get motivated with this action and started to do it. I realized is actually do-able with my time since its not going to be a 4 hour run.
More fears set in. Where am I going to run? What am I going to wear? How do I start running? Are there any running groups in the area. Just like I did a few weeks ago, I decided to ask for help. This time around I ask most of my friends, acquaintances, etc. for suggestions, tips for someone who is beginning to run. I have to say the amount of feedback I received it was just the motivation I needed. I vow to incorporate one or two actions per week that I will share in this blog.
I am off to interval training- 30/60/90 and for a quick run.
